Growing up in a culture that promoted goals and self reliance, it was easy for me to become self centered and to pretend that my life was of my own making.
I pretended that I alone could “fly” as high as my dreams would take me.
As the years passed, it became obvious was that my independence was all an illusion.
Today I am reflecting on how everything is interdependent and interconnected.
I am reminded about how the largest of birds can soar for hours, not by their own efforts of wing flapping, but rather just by riding the loft of the wind. With that in mind I decided to pause to think about all of the people who have in some way been a part of the Wind Beneath MY Wings. There are of course those that I can name, such as members of my family and all of my wonderful friends, however there are also those that I cannot name. They are the individuals who remained anonymous, and yet knowingly or sometimes unknowingly, helped me along my way. These can include the individuals who just gave a smile or offered me a place in a traffic line. These giving souls and many more, are all part of the “winds” that have helped to make my life soar.
In my gratitude, I am deeply reminded that all of life is interconnected.
Whether human, plant or animal, we are all designed to support each other’s journey.
Recently I was listening to the song “The Wind Beneath my Wings” and I was left echoing the following words:
“Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.”
And so to all of my readers, and to all of you who help to publish these Muses,
Thank YOU!
