Much of daily life seems to be a series of miracles
and to me movement falls into this category.
After weeks in a wheelchair, I can assure you that learning to move and walk again is not an easy task. Now that I am more aware that movement is truly a gift, I am both amazed and astonished by the unique ways that different species move across our magnificent planet. From mammals, to insects, to birds, to gill-bearing creatures; all of these species have their own unique patterns of mobility. They all come in completely different forms, sizes and shapes, and yet somehow they are guided to integrate all of their body parts into a specific pattern of movement. For me, the intricate coordination of all of these individual body parts is nothing less than amazing.
During the past few days, I have been watching so many talented athletes compete in the Olympics. Their performances reminded me that movement is both a gift and a discipline. When I think of movement as a gift and view it along with the idea that each species is designed to move in its own unique and distinctive way, I cannot help but be humbled by the infinite talent and intelligence of our Creator.
From the rocking of a praying mantis, to the grace of an egret, to the spin of a dolphin, to the speed of a cheetah: all of these distinctive patterns of movement are nothing short of brilliant! Thus it is with gratitude and appreciation, that I honor and applaud our Creator and all of the Miracles of Movement.
