Albert Einstein died in 1955.
I am not sure of the exact year that he spoke these words, however it was certainly well over 65 years ago. Obviously a man of science, and great intelligence, he spoke of his regard for the importance of morality in yet another quote:
“THE MOST IMPORTANT HUMAN ENDEAVOR IS
THE STRIVING FOR MORALITY IN OUR ACTIONS.
OUR INNER BALANCE AND EVEN OUR VERY EXISTENCE DEPEND ON IT.”
Then he continues, “THIS IS PERHAPS THE FOREMOST TASK OF EDUCATION.”
At this moment in time, I cannot begin to imagine what words Mr. Einstein would use to address our current state of affairs. Knowing his respect for the importance of ethics and morality, I can only assume that he would be pleading for each individual, along with our halls of government, business, religion, medicine, education and media, to return to living, teaching and respecting high ethical standards.
After all, “Our very existence depends on it.”
