Sometimes it is the simple things in life which speak to us the loudest.
This happened to me the other day when I was at an organic farm and found myself wandering through a beautiful cabbage patch.
“Unfold” the cabbage spoke, “It is all about unfolding!”
When I looked closely at the cabbage and then thought about so many other fruits, flowers and vegetables, I could not help but observe that most of them shared a similar growth pattern, a pattern of seemingly effortless unfolding. They do not try to become something other than who they are, but rather they let their innate essence unfold from the tiny seed that contains the source of their own unique identity! In other words, they honor and unfold the pattern and purpose that is uniquely theirs!
Are we meant to evolve differently from the plant world? Are we called “to become” and let our minds and efforts direct our life patterns, rather than embracing their natural unfolding? Likened to the cabbage plant, are we born with all that we need to fulfill our life’s purpose, and we just have to say “Yes” and trust in our own unfolding?
In order to answer these, and many other important questions in life, we must first take the time to ask them. For me, my questions are often inspired by Nature, by something as simple as a walk through a “Cabbage Patch!”
