Oktoberfest was originally designed to celebrate a royal Bavarian wedding which took place over 200 years ago. However in modern times, I relate to it as a personal reminder of how important it is to celebrate and appreciate this season of Harvest.
In a techno world filled with industrial farming, it is easy to forget our direct connection to the fruits of the Earth. Without a good Harvest, most generations before us would have had a difficult time surviving the winter.
Thus, I see this as a very important time to celebrate the seasonal cycles and to remind ourselves about how important they are to our very survival.
So cheers to the Harvest, and to all of the gifts of the Earth…
without them we couldn’t survive, yet alone thrive!!!
