Lessons From My Hospital Bed…

After 7 nights in Vail Hospital, 8 nights in a Colorado assisted living facility, and 3 nights in a Florida facility, I finally arrived at my Florida home! Those 18 amazing days with full time medical assistance taught me more about kindness, caring, and compassion than any previous event in my lifetime. During that time, I was astonished to rediscover that the ONLY things of real values in my life are love, compassion, kindness, and gratitude.

Additionally, I am happy to share with you My “Lessons from the Hospital Bed”.

They can simply be summarized in one word TRANSFORMATION.

During the moments when my body was completely weakened and my mind was dialed down by a concussion, life taught me that every loss can be transformed into something to be grateful for. Case in point, moving my toes! I always took this for granted until I woke up from surgery and could not move anything below my waist. Suddenly, I was awakened to the gift of movement that I had taken for granted for my entire life!
Similarly, when I was lacking oxygen, I became incredibly grateful for the very air that I had always taken for granted.

My list goes on and on, and eventually I was left with so many simple things to be grateful for that my gratitude list became the foundation of my Joy. Heading the top of that list is my gratitude for all of you and the love, prayers and kindnesses that you have sent my way.
