This week much of the world celebrated Earth Day.
With this in mind, it was natural for me to think about our wondrous home, Planet Earth. I had thoughts about how the Earth truly is our Mother. About how She is the umbilical cord to our physical health and well being. I thought about how She herself is a “living Being”,
a collection of interconnected systems that sustain their own life.
I had thoughts about my belief that we are called to love, care for, and respect all of life, so then most certainly we are called to love, care for, and respect our Mother Earth…
For me, gratitude is a key component of honor and respect.
It is a leading attitude that often paves the way for my personal transformation of thoughts and behaviors. When I am moved by the attitude of gratitude, the doors seem to open for me to become more loving, caring and respectful to whomever and whatever I am grateful for.
This year, in honor of Earth Day,
I made the following commitment:
To daily be more grateful for our Mother Earth,
To take seconds out of each day to offer my thanks for our amazing planet,
To recognize that God created our wondrous home
and that She is the total source of our physical well-being.
In addition, I promise to stop taking Her for granted and to recognize that our earthly home is a Divine Gift.
And so today, I pray for our Mother Earth. I pray that my relationship with Her will be one of pure love, gratitude, and appreciation.
I thank the Source of all life for creating this amazing home, and promise to become more conscious of her needs.
For this I pray. Amen.
