Ever since I wrote about Cerra last week, the word CHERISH has been echoing in my mind. Even in the midst of celebrating Thanksgiving, my thoughts regarding who and what I cherished were competing with what I was thankful for. Realizing that I was engaging in a mental competition my logical mind took charge and I decided to make 2 lists and to explore their differences.
The core theme that ran through my “What I Cherish List” was that I deeply loved everyone and everything on my list. These were the People, Places or Ideals that are as important to me as life itself. These were life’s gifts that I came to treasure beyond measure. These are the People, Concepts, and Realities that I would willingly give my time and energy to Love and Honor. This is the list that comprises the top of my personal pyramid of who I bless and give thanks for when I wake up each day.
I was so excited about the importance of my “Cherish List” I was ready to announce a National Holiday to honor all that we cherish! Then, as in all things, the down side started to reveal itself. What if the fear of losing what I cherished began to take root? What if I felt that I couldn’t feel fully alive without what I most cherished most? What if my joy and happiness was so dependent on what I cherished that my emotions were totally vulnerable? Now my real work began…What could I put at the top of my cherish list that would lead me to unconditional happiness instead of fear?
Rather than leading you further down my path, my thoughts and my list, I invite you to explore your own. To stop for just a moment to reflect on who and what you Cherish. To take a few seconds to consider who and what is
important to the deepest part of your soul. Who and what is at the top of your gratitude pyramid? How your list relates to unconditional happiness? And as for the “Cherish Day,” when we live from our Hearts, everyday is “Cherish Day”!
