The Gifts of Spring…

For me, nothing beats waking up to a beautiful Spring morning! I love to start my day by feeling the caress of a cool gentle breeze, or hearing a symphony of song birds announcing the dawn of a new and glorious day. These are all gifts to my senses, and are a part of what I love about the Season of Spring.

From the moment I open my eyes, a kaleidoscope of blooming shapes and colors entice me into a delightful state of awe. Then when time allows, a barefooted walk through the dew-laden grass allows my senses to further enhance their Springtime feast.

As the Season of Spring progresses, so do the fragrances. When I encounter my first bloom of lilacs, my sense of smell wants to remain forever with these purple beauties. But then as the wisteria, roses, and peonies begin to unfold, their sweet smelling blossoms have no problem catching my full attention. It seems to only take one inhale of any of these fragrances to quickly transport me into another dimension.

But Nature does not stop with just gifting us the sights,
sounds, and the smells of Spring; She also showers the earth with both gentle rains and tender sun rays. She uses these elements along with other resources to grow our veggies and sweeten our fruits.
For me, some of my most cherished moments in Spring come from my first “tastes of the Season!” Local strawberries top my list of favorites, as I often find myself closing my eyes to more intensely honor these delicate gems.

Of all of the Seasons, I find that that in Spring I am most enticed to just “STOP” and “feel” the treasures of the moment. Spring directly opens my senses in a way that cannot be compared to any other time or place. And so, during this season when the Earth renews itself, I am thankful for the renewal of my senses, and express my gratitude to our Creator for The Gifts of Spring.
