Joy is one of life’s greatest gifts.
I marvel at how natural it is for children to experience this magic. Often their faces speak volumes about this exuberant feeling. Then, with the passage of time; age, reason and responsibility seem to dampen our intrinsic Joy. And for many of us, we even forget that Joy is our birth right.
Recently I was thinking about the Biblical phrase “Let the little children come unto me, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” With these words in mind, I cannot help but think that this is a reminder that we should always seek and treasure the Joy and Innocence that children so clearly exemplify. These gifts, derived from the Faith and Trust of a loving parent/child bond, are also the attitudes that Christ reminds us to return to in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. For when Faith and Trust are the cornerstones of our Spiritual lives, we can return to the pure Joy that is inherent to our very nature.
