Christmas 2020…

I am so grateful that there are 12 days of Christmas!
With all of the secular traditions, it often takes me until now to reflect more deeply on what this year’s Christmas means to me. So now that the holiday dust has settled I would like to share the prominent theme for my personal 2020 Christmas…..
”God becomes Man”!

I recently heard a sermon that spoke of a true story of a gentleman who had been in a car accident. Unknowingly, he suffered from a concussion and the next day his brain began hemorrhaging. Through a series of “coincidences” he ended up having surgery and now is “good as new”. His life was saved! The reason that I am sharing this is to connect with my personal 2020 meaning of Christmas…”God was born as Man on that first Christmas morning, and continues to work through and with man!” Such a profound difference from those who believed that we were completely separated from the Divine.  No wonder in the New Testament, Christ encourages us to call God, “Father”. This alone emphasizes our personal connection to what was once thought to be a distant and aloof God.

Thus, this Christmas Season I was once again reminded of how revolutionary it was for God to be born as Man! A reminder that as sons and daughters of God we all share in this same spiritual DNA!  A reminder that we work not just through God but with God, to help create the life and world of our dreams!  A reminder that we are not just passive people who pray, but rather our prayer, meditation, and stillness are pathways that open us to our own personal call to action. A reminder that we are all called to be co-creators with the Divine, regardless of our human frailties.

And so I end in prayer…

“God, I pray that I can hear your call to work together to create a world that brings true peace and harmony to our planet earth. Today I volunteer to be a partner in your continued creation. I am looking forward to this journey.
Amen.”

Merry Christmas!
