Messages from the Mystics…

There are times in Life when cherished moments with Family and Friends seem to capture all of our time. For me, this has been my situation during the past few months. Thus, I am using this as an opportunity to share both the words and concepts of some of my favorite Mystics.

In today’s Muse, I am happy to present one of my most treasured quotes from St. Theresa of Lisieux (1873-1897). Here we discover how she got her nickname, “St. Theresa of the Little Flower,” as she uses the image of “God’s Garden” to remind us that every Soul has its own unique Beauty and Purpose.

“He set before me the Book of Nature; I understood how ALL the flowers that He created are beautiful, how the splendor of the Rose and the Whiteness of the Lily do not take away the perfume of the little Violet or the delightful simplicity of the Daisy. I understood that if all flowers wanted to be Roses, Nature would lose her springtime beauty, and the fields would no longer be decked out with little Wild flowers. And so it is in the world of Souls, in God’s Garden… Where Perfection consists in doing His will by simply being the Flower that we are born to be.”
